HOW TO MANAGE PET ANXIETY?
Pets can have anxiety for a number of reasons. The most common causes are fear of abandonment, loud noises like thunderstorms, other pets, and trauma from previous owners. Pet anxiety can result in unwanted behavior like aggression, biting, barking, chewing on furniture and clothing, and clinginess.
The good news is that pet anxiety can be managed. Here are two tips for soothing your anxious pet.
Burn that energy!
Anxious pets are known to run around and destroy things when they are uncomfortable. Try exercising your pet before an event that might cause anxiety.
Try a pet bed.
Pets are just like us. Sometimes they just need some time on their own. Try a Mason and Bone pet house or decorating your pet's crate. Some pets like to hold stuffed animals when they are feeling stressed. Don't lock up your pet. Allow your pet to self-soothe and exit when they have calmed down.
